Niedringhaus Meteorite
During the late Mississippian period the 38th parallel was bombarded by serial strikes. One particular area, know today as Granite City, was struck heavily by meteorites yielding a high iron content. This event has come to be known as the Niedringhaus Anomaly due to the strange configuration of impacts as well as the atmospheric conditions at the time. Unexplained by scientists the initial series of impacts dispersed a combination of alien and terrestrial particulates into the air. As the Niedringhaus Event occurred a strange oxidation process affected meteorites entering the atmosphere. Unlike anything else found today fragments have a speckled, granite like appearance.
